Epiphany Lutheran Church

The Isaiah Center provides grief education and support to those experiencing loss and life’s transitions and those who minister to them. This is a not-for-profit ministry with a mission to educate, encourage, equip and empower congregational; ministry leaders and laity to fulfill the church’s call to comfort those who grieve and mourn.  The Isaiah Center offers bereavement consultation, groups, musical events, seminars, and retreats in its inviting and welcoming space.  It includes a grief and Loss Resource Center with books, pamphlets, hand-outs, CD’s, DVD’s, and videos for all ages.  The Isaiah Center  invites all to come, to be encouraged and refreshed through this Christ-centered Ecumenical Ministry of hope and healing!

The center is named for the prophet Isaiah who proclaimed a Word of Hope to the Israelites during the Babylonian captivity.  Isaiah proclaimed God’s ongoing presence, healing, renewal and restoration to the People of God in this time of immense and raw grief.  Removed from their homeland and the Temple in Jerusalem, the Israelites mourned multiple losses. The question they continued to ask was this:

In this time of grief and uncertainty, “How can we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land?”

Grief can be a foreign land with many questions and uncertainties.  It can be a time of great spiritual searching, of rethinking priorities.  Grief is often experienced in various emotional, intellectual, physical, occupational, social and spiritual ways.  The Isaiah Center seeks to be a Word of Hope and Healing to all who participate in its ministry.  The center is founded on the Hebrew text from the opening verses of Isaiah 43:  “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; Because you are precious in my sight; and honored, and I love you.”

Rev. Nancy L. Haupert, Master of Divinity, is the Executive Director of the Isaiah Center at Epiphany Lutheran Church.  She would be glad to answer any questions you have and welcomes you to participate and partner in this ministry.  Please visit our website!
